About
| The Global Health Hub provides an online gateway to news, commentary and resources related to global health and development. The Hub employs novel tools that aggregate and traditional and non-mainstream content sources to help people interested and involved in global health to quickly find information from pre-screened sources.
The Global Health Hub is a project of PubHealth.org, in partnership Appfrica Labs and SwiftRiver. The Hub aggregates content from around the web (news, blog posts, twitter feeds, jobs & grants postings, calendars, discussion forums and more). We also publish original news and commentary pieces to provide a dynamic information portal for the global health community. The Hub uses the open-source, groundbreaking SwiftRiver news verification and sorting platform in a format specially designed for the Hub by our partners at SwiftRiver. Once fully up and running, Swift will autotag content, and verify and rank source validity to help users navigate and prioritize the barrage of global health news and information available on the web.
The Team: The Global Health Hub is brought to you by a group of volunteer writers with backgrounds in medicine, public health, journalism and computer programming. By syncing their diverse areas of expertise around a common interest in global public health, we hope to provide users with interesting original content and a comprehensive portal to the valuable resources that already exist online. The Hub’s founding editor, Sarah Arnquist (@sarnquist), has a masters degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University and an undergraduate degree in journalism. She has worked in academic global health research and as a journalist in the US and East Africa. Her work has been published in numerous publications, including the Harvard Business School Press and the New York Times. Contact her at sarnquist[at]gmail.com. The site’s programming team is led by TED Senior Fellow Jon Gosier (@jongos) as well as Michael Lipnick (@mlipnick), Ivan Kavuma and Ahmed Maawy at Appfrica Labs and SwiftRiver.
